Majority Owner & President
Elisabeth R. Wilson
As President and majority owner of Alakona Corp, Elisabeth "Betsy" Wilson is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the company. She holds Hawaii State Contractors License CT-28301and is the RME for the firm. She is well versed in all aspects of the paving and paving maintenance business and participates in job estimating and supervision, as well as the oversight of the company office functions including Human Resources, Accounting and Finance, Client Relations, Contracting, and Sales and Marketing. Under her leadership, in April 2009 Alakona Corp became the exclusive producer of GREEN MIX HAWAII foamed asphalt, a recycled foamed asphalt product which is less expensive, but equal in performance to comparable products made from virgin material. Wilson helped to co-found Alakona Corp in 1982 with Mervyn de Wolff and JP Errett. She graduated from the University of Puget Sound with bachelor's degree in economics. She is a member of the Outrigger Canoe Club.

Mervyn A. de Wolff
Mervyn de Wolff co-founded Alakona Corp in 1982. At the company's inception, the main focus was pavement maintenance with an emphasis on seal coating and minor asphalt repairs. However, as Hawaii's market demands changed, Mervyn evolved the business to its present services in which Alakona Corp derives a majority of its business from asphalt maintenance, asphalt repair, asphalt overlay and new asphalt lay downs. In 2007, Mervyn transferred the majority ownership of the asphalt paving and paving maintenance contracting firm to Elisabeth R. Wilson, the new president of Alakona. Today Mervyn assists Arist and Max with bidding and coordinating the many and varied paving opportunities presented to Alakona Corp. He is the company's chief financial officer. Mervyn holds Hawaii Sate Contractors License CT-13333.
Vice President, Projects Manager & Estimator
Arist E. de Wolff
Vice President and Projects Manager, Arist E. de Wolff manages the company's safety program and coordinates staff, equipment and materials to complete projects. As the owner's son, he learned all aspects of the business from the ground up, where he has worked since high school. He continues to use his extensive field experience to help review plans, inspect projects and prepare estimates. He also is closely involved with the marketing and communications of Alakona Corp. Arist graduated from Pepperdine University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and communications, where he was also a NCAA Volleyball player. He enjoys playing the ukulele and loves anything involved with the ocean. Arist has managed major projects, such as: Kalani Gardens, Kalaeloa Rental Homes, Kailua Methodist Church, Combat Aviation Complex, F22 Combat Aircraft Parking and the NOAA Childhood Development Center.
Operations Manager & Estimator
Max P. de Wolff
Max P. de Wolff literally grew up in the business. As the owner's son, Max started working at Alakona Corp in high school and worked in practically every position within the company. As Secretary, Operations Manager and Estimator of Alakona Corp, Max is responsible for coordinating staff equipment needs and materials to complete projects. Max is the project manager for the City & County of Honolulu Slurry Seal Project. He continues to provide a quality project which will likely lead to the continued use of Slurry Seal for pavement maintenance in Honolulu. He also helps to review plans, prepare estimates and inspect projects. He is closely involved with the overall marketing efforts of the company with a strong emphasis on helping to educate the public about Alakona's products and services. Max attended Pepperdine University and was a NCAA Volleyball player, winning the NCAA Championships in 2005. He is a member of the Outrigger Canoe Club. Max is responsible for overseeing Alakona's major contracts with the City and County of Honolulu for Pavement Preservation of Streets (sealcoat and slurry seal).
